Bad Movies
The last post jogged my memory... There have been a few films we've seen lately that I'll just briefly comment on.
Elektra
Lacked substance, plot, good actors. Jennifer Garner pouting a lot. Not worth watching really!
Sky Captain & The World of Tomorrow
Oh, what a waste! It had real potential, and the CGI effects could have made this movie great - but they didn't. Jude Law and Gwyneth Paltrow lacked any spark, and both their charachters were pretty flat. The plot... well, that too was pretty naff - but I can see how it could have been great, there were brief moments when you would suddenly think oh, it's really going somewhere now - but didn't.
I Did like the whole 1940's futuristic feel of the movie - but just that was not enough to engage an audience for the film's duration.

Totally concur about SCATWOT (hey, what a great abbreviation!) - looked nice, but a bit of a waste of time. Angelina Jolie's character was mildly interesting, but they didn't do anything with her.
I concur with Mark's concurance and with Nikki's general comment about the feeling that it was just a waste. We sat through the credits (strong contender for the most exciting part of the film) and I was just amazed at the amount of people that had worked on it. If they had spent as much money on the story as as they had on the the effects maybe it would have been half as watchable. Makes you wonder if they'd just come up with a decent script, animated the actors a little and used some stop motion animation (a la the 60's Sinbad movies) it would have been a whole lot more interesting.
Sorry mwnat: twice as watchable if they'd go tthe story right - not half. Proof it, man!
